Aspirants who wish to apply for the SSC CGL Exam 2026 are required to have a minimum of degree qualification and for some posts it is fixed to a certain degree which is as mentioned below:
Junior Statistical Officer:
Bachelor’s Degree in any subject from a recognised University or Institute with at least 60% Marks in Mathematics at 12th standard level (or) Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects at degree level.
Statistical Investigator (Grade II):
Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects from a recognized University or Institute. The candidates should have studied the subject of Statistics at Degree Level in Part I, Part II and Part III or in all the six semesters of three year degree course and not simply a paper in any part of the Degree or six semesters at degree level.
Assistant Accounts Officer (State Cadre):
Bachelor’s Degree from a recognised university or institute and proficiency in the regional/official language of the state, i.e. ability to read, write, speak and understand the language with proficiency at matriculation level.
Assistant Audit Officer (State Cadre):
Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university or institute and proficiency in the regional / official language of the state, i.e. ability to read, write, speak and understand the language with proficiency at matriculation level.
All other Posts:
Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or equivalent. The candidates who have appeared in their final year of their graduation can also apply; however they must possess essential qualification (As on 1 Aug 2026).
As per Union Ministry of Human Resource Development Notification dated 10 June 2015 published in the Gazette of India all the degrees/ diplomas/ certificates awarded through Open and Distance Learning mode of education by the Universities established by an Act of Parliament or State Legislature, Institutions Deemed to be Universities under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 and Institutions of National Importance declared under an Act of Parliament stand automatically recognized for the purpose of employment to posts and services under the Central Governmentprovided they have been approved by the Distance Education Bureau, University Grants Commission.
Accordingly, unless such degrees are recognized for the relevant period when the candidates acquired the qualification, they will not be accepted for the purpose of Educational Qualification. In case of the candidates possessing such degrees/ diplomas/ certificates awarded through Open and Distance Learning mode of education, such candidates shall also produce approval given to the University by the Distance Education Bureau, University Grants Commission for the relevant period at the time of Document Verification.
SSC CGL Exam 2026 – consists of two Tiers which are SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam and SSC CGL Tier 2 Exam.
