Candidates applying for the SSC CPO 2026 must be either a citizen of India or a subject of Nepal or a subject of Bhutan.

SSC CPO Age Limit 2026

Candidates interested to apply for the 1871 Sub Inspector vacancies in Delhi Police and CAPFs through the SSC CPO Recruitment 2026 should within the following ages as mentioned in the SSC CPO 2026 Notification PDF document:

The minimum age to apply for the SI (Fire) in CISF is 18 years and for other SI posts in Delhi Police and CISF is 20 years.

For the post of Sub Inspector (Fire) in CISF, candidates should be within 18 to 30 years. Candidates must have been born not earlier than 2 August 1996 and not later than 1 August 2008 in order to apply for Sub Inspector (Fire) post in CISF.

Candidates applying for the post of Sub Inspector (Exe / GD) in Delhi Police and CAPFs should be within 20 years to 25 years. Candidates must have been born not earlier than 2 August 2001 and not later than 1 August 2006 to be eligible to apply for posts other tha SI (Fire) in CISF.

SSC CPO Educational Qualification 2026

Candidates interested to apply for the SSC CPO Recruitment 2026 must possess minimum educational qualification as mentioned in the SSC CPO 2026 Notification PDF for the direct recruitment of 1871 Sub Inspector vacancies in the Delhi Police and various Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs).

Educational qualification for Sub Inspector in Delhi Police and Sub Inspector (GD) in CAPFs is Bachelor’s Degree from a recognised university or equivalent.

Candidates who have appeared in their Bachelor’s degree or equivalent examination can also apply; however, they must possess Essential Qualification on or before the cut-off date on 30 September 2026.

For the post of Sub Inspector (Fire) in CISF, educational qualification is Bachelor’s Degree in Science with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from a recognised university or equivalent (or) Matriculation or equivalent and three years diploma in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Automobiles, Chemical, Mining, Aeronautical, Telecommunication Engineering (or) equivalent exam passed from a recognised university or board or institutions.

For the post of Sub Inspector in Delhi Police (Male Candidates only): Male candidates must possess a valid Driving License for LMS (Motorcycle and Car) on the date fixed for Physical Endurance and Measurement tests (PE&MT) to be eligible for the post of Sub Inspector in Delhi Police.

Male candidates who do not possess a valid driving license for LMV (Motorcycle and Car) are eligible for the post of Sub Inspector in CAPFs only.

The selection process for the SSC CPO Recruitment 2026 includestwo separate Computer Based Exams and Physical Standard Test (PST) / Physical Endurance Test (PET).

Candidates who are provisionally selected in SSC CPO Paper I CBE 2026 will be called to attend the SSC CPO PST / PET 2026 followed by the SSC CPO Paper II CBE 2026.

The SSC CPO Paper II CBE 2026 will be held for a total of 160 questions for 320 marks and a time duration of 2 hours. It will be an Objective type of exam. Candidates who clear Paper II CBE Exam will undergo a Detailed Medical Exam. The final selection will be based on the SSC CPO Final Merit List 2026.

SSC CPO Tier 1 Exam Pattern 2026

SSC CPO Tier 1 2026 or SSC CPO Paper I 2026 will be an online objective type test. This CPO Tier 1 Exam will consist of four sections: General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Knowledge and Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude and English Comprehension. There will be 100 questions for a total of 100 marks. The time duration in the SSC CPO Tier 1 Exam 2026 will be 60 minutes. There will be a sectional timing of 15 minutes for each section.

There will also be negative marking for wrong answers in the SSC CPO Tier 1 Exam 2026. A negative marking of 0.25 marks will be deducted as penalty for each wrongly answered question.

The SSC CPO Paper II CBE Exam or the SSC CPO Tier 2 Exam 2026 will also be an online objective test.
