The selection process for the SSC CHT Recruitment 2026 includes two separate papers: Paper I (CBT Objective Type) and Paper II (Descriptive – Translation & Essay).
Paper I will be a computer-based exam and consists of 200 objective questions conducted for a total of 200 marks for a duration of 120 minutes (160 minutes for PwBD candidates).
This Computer Based Exam of Paper I consists of 2 Parts namely Part I (General Hindi – 100 marks) and Part II (General English – 100 marks). There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in the Computer Based Exam of the SSC CHT Recruitment 2026.
There will be a sectional timing for each part (1 hour each) in the SSC CHT Paper I 2026 with 1 hour sectional timing for each part.
Candidates who clear the SSC CHT Paper I Exam 2026 will be shortlisted to attend the SSC CHT Paper II Exam 2026.
The minimum qualifying marks in the SSC CHT Paper I Exam 2026 will be: 30% for General (UR), 25% for OBC/EWS and 20% for all other categories.
The Paper II of the SSC CHT Recruitment 2026 will be a descriptive paper that consists of translation and essays for 200 marks and a time duration of 2 hours.

It will also contain an essay each in Hindi and English to test the candidates’ translation skills and their ability to write as well as comprehend the two languages correctly, precisely and effectively.
