Candidates applying for the SSC CHSL 2026 must be either a citizen of India or a subject of Nepal or a subject of Bhutan or a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1 Jan1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Only male candidates are eligible for the vacancies, if any reported, in the Border Roads Organisation (BRO).

The cut-off date to determine the candidate’s educational qualification for the SSC CHSL will be 7 October 2026.
Candidates who have appeared in their Class 12 or equivalent exam can also apply, however they must possess essential qualification on or before the cut-off date.

Age relaxation will be applicable for candidates belonging to reserved categories as per government norms for the SSC CHSL Exam 2026. Candidates born not before 2 August 1999 and not later than 1 August 2008 are eligible to apply for the SSC CHSL Recruitment 2026.
As per the SSC CHSL 2026 Notification PDF, age relaxation for the upper age limit will be applicable for candidates belonging to reserved categories.

The selection process for the SSC CHSL 2026 includes two separate Computer Based Exams of Objective Type Multiple Choice Questions. The SSC CHSL Selection Process 2026 include the following two stages: SSC CHSL Tier I 2026, SSC CHSL Tier II 2026 followed by Document Verification.
The SSC CHSL Tier I 2026 will be an online exam consisting of objective type questions for English Language, General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude and General Awareness. It will consist of 100 questions for 200 marks.
Candidates who qualify the SSC CHSL Tier I 2026 will be informed to attend the SSC CHSL Tier II 2026.
The SSC CHSL Tier II Exam 2025 will be conducted in two sessions: Session I and Session II. Session I will consists of Section I with Mathematical
Abilities, Reasoning and General Intelligence, Section II with English Language and Comprehension, General Awareness and Section II with Computer Knowledge Test.
Session II will consist of Section IV with Skill Test / Typing Test. The duration of Session I will be 2 hours and 15 minutes.
The SSC CHSL Tier I 2026 will be a computer-based exam (CBE). It consists of 4 sections. The four sections are English Language, General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude (Basic Arithmetic Skill) and General Awareness.
The total duration of the SSC CHSL Tier I 2026 will be 60 minutes. Candidates have to answer 100 questions within a time duration of 60 minutes.
The total marks of the SSC CHSL Tier I 2026 will be 200 marks. There will be negative marking of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer in the SSC CHSL Tier I 2026.

The questions in the SSC CHSL Tier I 2026 will be set in English, Hindi and any language opted by the candidates in their application form for Part II, III and IV. There will be sectional timing in the SSC CHSL Tier I 2026 with 15 minutes allotted for each section.
The SSC CHSL Tier II 2026 will also be a computer-based exam (CBE).
It will consist of two sessions: Session I and Session II on the same day.
The first session (Session I) covers Section I, Section II and Section III, which are objective questions in nature. Session II consist of Section IV, which is the Skill Test or Typing Test. Session II will be qualifying in nature. There will be sectional timing only in Session I.

There will be a negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer in Section I, Section II and Section III of the Session I in the Tier II Exam 2026. Computer Knowledge Test in Tier II will be qualifying in nature. Skill Test / Typing will also be of qualifying nature.
The SSC CHSL 2026 Application Fee will be ₹ 100 that is to be paid using online mode only.
It is mentioned in the SSC CHSL 2026 Notification PDF that candidates belonging to the SC/ST/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen and female candidates are exempted from paying the exam fee for the SSC CHSL Recruitment 2026.
Candidates are required to pay the SSC CHSL 2026 Online Application Fee using online mode either by BHIM UPI/Internet Banking/Debit Card/Credit Card.
