In the latest announcement by the Staff Selection Commission released on 11 April 2026, it has been announced that the SSC GD Constable 2026 for the direct recruitment of 25487 GD Constable & GD Rifleman vacancies will be held from 27 April 2026 until 30 May 2026 across various exam centres in the country. SSC has advised candidates who have registered for the SSC GD Constable 2026 with an option to exercise ‘preference for weeks’. Under this facility, SSC GD Constable candidates will be required to log in to their respective accounts on the designated SSC portal using their credentials and indicate their preferences for the SSC GD Constable CBT Exam 2026.
The exam period will be held over four weeks: Week 1, Week 2, Week 3 and Week 4.
Candidates will be required to indicate their order of preference for all the windows, based on their convenience. The facility for submission of exam week preferences will be made available to candidates starting from 3:00 PM on 11 April 2026 to 5:00 PM on 15 April 2026.

The SSC GD Constable Exam 2026 consists of four sections: General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Knowledge & Awareness, Elementary Mathematics and English / Hindi.
This exam will be a computer-based exam and will consist of objective type MCQ questions. It will consist of 80 questions for 160 marks and the total time duration will be 1 hour / 60 minutes.
There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. The Computer Based Exam of the SSC GD Constable 2026 will be conducted in English, Hindi and 13 regional languages viz. Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu.
