Each eye must have a full field of vision. Colour blindness, squint or any morbid condition of the eyes or lies of either eye shall be deemed to be a disqualification. Lasik / Laser surgery / Excimer Laser surgery underwent by the candidates in either of the eyes shall be deemed to be a disqualification.
TNPSC Group 4 Knowledge in Tamil 2026
Candidates interested to apply for TNPSC Group 4 Recruitment 2026 should possess adequate knowledge in Tamil.
It is mentioned in the TNPSC Group 4 Notification 2026 PDF that the candidate shall be deemed to possess an adequate knowledge of Tamil if, he/she has passed the SSLC examination (10th) or its equivalent examination / HSC / Degree, etc., with Tamil as one of the languages or studied the High School Course in Tamil medium or passed the SSLC examination (10th) or its equivalent examination in Tamil medium or passed the Second Class Language Test (Full Test) in Tamil conducted by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission.
Candidates are required to upload / produce either SSLC / HSC / Degree / PG Degree mark sheets or proof of having passed the Second-Class Language Test (Full Test) in Tamil conducted by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission, when called for by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC).
TNPSC Group 4 Selection Process 2026
The TNPSC Group 4 Exam 2026 will have only one stage. It has no Mains stage or Interview stage.
For posts other than Forest Guard with Driving Licence and Forest Watcher, based on the marks obtained in the TNPSC Group 4 Exam 2026 and subject to the rule of reservation of appointments, the list of eligible candidates will be announced for onscreen certificate verification.
After verification, eligible candidates will be admitted for physical certificate verification.
After this stage, the candidates will be allowed to participate in the TNPSC Group 4 Counselling 2026 based on his/her TNPSC Group 4 Exam 2026 Rank.
For the posts of Forest Guard with Driving Licence and Forest Watcher, a separate list of eligible candidates will be announced for onscreen certificate verification based on their marks obtained by the candidates in the TNPSC Group 4 Exam 2026 written exam and subject to the rule of reservation of appointments.
After the onscreen verification, eligible candidates who have opted for the above said posts will be admitted to the Endurance Test in 1:3 ratio.
These candidates will undergo a Physical Standards Verification and Endurance Test consisting of a walk over 25 km and 16 km to be completed by male and female or third gender candidates conducted by the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests. It is to be noted that the Physical Standards and Endurance Test will be conducted only at Chennai.
For the post of Forest Guard with Driving Licence, the TN Department of Forest will conduct a driving test with the help of experts.
Based on the results of the Endurance Tests and Driving Test (if applicable), the eligible candidates will be admitted for physical certificate verification.
TNPSC Group 4 Exam Pattern 2026
The TNPSC Group 4 Exam 2026 will be an offline OMR exam and consist of a single objective paper for Group 4 service vacancies.
It consists of the following subjects:
Part A: Tamil Eligibility cum Scoring Test
Part B: General Studies
Part C: Aptitude and Mental Ability
The TNPSC Group 4 Exam 2026 will consist of 200 questions and will be conducted for a total of 300 marks.
The time duration of the TNPSC Group 4 Exam 2026 will be 180 minutes or 3 hours.

It should be noted by the candidates apply for the TNPSC Group 4 Exam 2026 that the Part B of the Answer Sheets will be evaluated only if the candidates secure minimum qualifying marks of 40 per cent (60 marks) in Part A of the TNPSC Group 4 Exam 2026. The total marks secured in Part A and Part B taken together will be consider for the Ranking.
The questions in Part A of the Tamil Eligibility-cum-Scoring Test will be set in Tamil language only. The questions in Part B of the TNPSC Group 4 Exam 2026 will be set in both English and Tamil.

The TNPSC Group 4 Exam Fee 2026 will be ₹ 100 and has to be paid by the candidates who have not claimed fee exemption in the TNPSC Group 4 Selection Process 2026 at the time of submitting the TNPSC Group 4 Online Application 2026.
Candidates belonging to special categories can avail of exemption from paying examination fees as per eligibility criteria.
