TNPSC Group 4 Exam 2025: Official Notification

The TNPSC Group 4 Exam (also known as the Combined Civil Services Exam IV (Group IV Services) is conducted every year by the TNPSC to directly recruit eligible candidates for the post mentioned under the Group IV services).

Candidates can start applying for the TNPSC Group 4 Exam 2025 from 25 April 2025. The last date to apply for the TNPSC Group 4 2025 Exam is 24th May, 2025.

Candidates can make changes to their application during the application correction window period from 29th May, 2025 till 31st May, 2025.

The TNPSC Group 4 Exam 2025 will be conducted all over Tamil Nadu in various TNPSC Group 4 Exam centres on 12th July, 2025 from 09:30 A.M to 12:30 P.M.

TNPSC Group 4 Exam 2025: Medical & Physical Standards

Candidates applying for the TNPSC Group 4 Exam 2025 should have the following medical as well as physical standards as mentioned in the TNPSC Group 4 Exam 2025 Official Notification PDF.

Posts Other Than Forest Guard, Forest Guard with DL, Forest Watcher and Forest Watcher (Tribal Youth)

Candidates who are selected for appointment to the posts will be required to submit a certificate of physical fitness to the Appointing Authority at the time of joining the post. The visual acuity of the candidates will have to be within Standard III or better.

Posts of Forest Guard, Forest Guard with DL, Forest Watcher and Forest Watcher (Tribal Youth)

Candidates must possess the following minimum physical standards for the posts of Forest Guard, Forest Guard with Driving Licence, Forest Watcher and Forest Watcher (Tribal Youth):

For candidates belonging to Scheduled Tribes, the following minimum height standards should be followed:

• Male Candidates – 152 cm
• Female Candidates – 145 cm
• Third Gender Candidates – 145 cm

Vision Requirement for the Post of Forest Guard with Driving Licence:

Candidates must be certified to possess the following visual standards specified without glasses as mentioned in the TNPSC Group 4 Exam Official Notification PDF:

Each eye must have a full field of vision. Colour blindness, squint or any morbid condition of the eyes or lies of either eye shall be deemed to be a disqualification. Lasik / Laser surgery / Excimer Laser surgery underwent by the candidates in either of the eyes shall be deemed to be a disqualification.

TNPSC Group 4 Exam 2025: Knowledge in Tamil

Candidates interested to apply for TNPSC Group 4 Exam 2025 should possess adequate knowledge in Tamil on the date of the TNPSC Group 4 Exam 2025 Official Notification. It is mentioned in the TNPSC Group 4 Exam 2025 Official Notification PDF that the candidate shall be deemed to possess an adequate knowledge of Tamil if, he/she has:

• Passed the SSLC examination (10th) or its equivalent examination / HSC / Degree, etc., with Tamil as one of the languages.
• Studied the High School Course in Tamil medium.
• Passed the SSLC examination (10th) or its equivalent examination in Tamil medium.
• Passed the Second Class Language Test (Full Test) in Tamil conducted by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission.

Candidates are required to upload / produce either SSLC / HSC / Degree / PG Degree mark sheets or proof of having passed the Second-Class Language Test (Full Test) in Tamil conducted by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission when called for by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC).

TNPSC Group 4 Exam 2025: Selection Process

The selection process for the TNPSC Group 4 Exam 2025 will have only one stage of exam for most of the posts under the Group 4 services:

For posts other than Forest Guard, Forest Guard with Driving Licence, Forest Watcher, and Forest Watcher (Tribal Youth):

Based on the marks obtained in the TNPSC Group 4 Exam 2025 and subject to the rule of reservation of appointments, the list of eligible candidates will be announced for onscreen certificate verification. After verification, eligible candidates will be admitted for physical certificate verification. After this stage, the candidates will be allowed to participate in the TNPSC Group 4 Exam 2025 Counselling based on his/her TNPSC Group 4 Exam 2025 Rank.

For the posts of Forest Guard, Forest Guard with Driving Licence, Forest Watcher, and Forest Watcher (Tribal Youth):

A separate list of eligible candidates will be announced for onscreen certificate verification based on their marks obtained in the TNPSC Group 4 Exam 2025 written exam and subject to the rule of reservation of appointments. After onscreen verification, eligible candidates who have opted for the above-mentioned posts will be admitted to the Endurance Test in a 1:3 ratio. These candidates will undergo a Physical Standards Verification and Endurance Test, which includes a walk over 25 km for male candidates and 16 km for female or third-gender candidates, conducted by the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests. It is important to note that the Physical Standards and Endurance Test will be conducted only at Chennai.

For the post of Forest Guard with Driving Licence, the TN Department of Forests will conduct a driving test with the help of experts.

Based on the results of the Endurance Tests and Driving Test (if applicable), the eligible candidates will be admitted for physical certificate verification.

TNPSC Group 4 Exam 2025: Exam Pattern

The TNPSC Group 4 Exam 2025 will be a single Objective type paper conducted through the OMR method. It consists of two parts — Part A (Tamil Eligibility-cum-Scoring Test) and Part B (General Studies and Aptitude and Mental Ability Test). The General Studies section consists of 75 questions and the Aptitude and Mental Ability section consists of 25 questions. The total exam will be conducted for a total of 300 marks.

The Tamil Eligibility cum Scoring Test consists of 100 questions and is conducted for a total of 150 marks. The TNPSC Group 4 Exam 2025 will be conducted for a total duration of 3 hours. The total marks of the TNPSC Group 4 Exam 2025 will be conducted for a total of 300 marks for 200 questions.

It should be noted by the candidates applying for the TNPSC Group 4 Exam 2025 that the Part B of the Answer Sheets will be evaluated only if the candidates secure minimum qualifying marks of 40 per cent (60 marks) in Part A of the TNPSC Group 4 Exam 2025. The total marks secured in Part A and Part B taken together will be considered for the Ranking.

The questions in Part A of the Tamil Eligibility-cum-Scoring Test will be set in Tamil language only. The questions in Part B of the TNPSC Group 4 Exam 2025 will be set in both English and Tamil.

TNPSC Group 4 Exam 2025: Exam Date

The TNPSC Group 4 Exam 2025 is scheduled to be held on 12 July 2025 as per the TNPSC Annual Planner 2025. It is to be held across TNPSC Group 4 Exam centres across Tamil Nadu in all districts.

• One Time Registration Fee: Rs.150/-
• Exam Fees: Rs.100/-
• Fee Exemption: No Fees for Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Caste (Arunthathiyars), Scheduled Tribes, Differently Abled Persons, and Destitute Widows of all communities.

(i) Applicants already registered under the One-Time Registration system (valid for 5 years) are exempted from the registration fee.
(ii) Those who have registered and paid the One-Time Registration fee of Rs.150/- only need to pay the Examination Fee.
