TNPSC CTS Interview Knowledge in Tamil 2026
Candidates interested to apply for TNPSC CTS Interview 2026 should possess adequate knowledge in Tamil as on the date of release of the TNPSC Combined Technical Services Interview 2026 Notification PDF, i.e. 1 July 2026.
It is mentioned in the TNPSC CTS Interview 2026 Notification PDF that the candidate shall be deemed to possess an adequate knowledge of Tamil if, he/she has passed the SSLC examination (10th) or its equivalent examination / HSC / Degree, etc., with Tamil as one of the languages or studied the High School Course in Tamil medium or passed the SSLC examination (10th) or its equivalent examination in Tamil medium or passed the Second Class Language Test (Full Test) in Tamil conducted by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC).
Candidates are required to upload / produce either SSLC / HSC / Degree / PG Degree mark sheets or proof of having passed the Second-Class Language Test (Full Test) in Tamil conducted by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission, when called for by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC).
Failure to produce documents in support of the possession of adequate knowledge of Tamil, shall result in the candidate being required to pass the Second-Class Language Test (Full Test) in Tamil conducted by the TNPSC, within a period of two years from the date of his / her appointment, failing which he / she shall be discharged from service. This will not be applicable to the post of Veterinary Assistant Surgeon (Post Code.1695), Research Assistant (Post Code.1694), Port Officer (Code.3799) and System Analyst (Post Code.3833) as mentioned in the TNPSC CTS Interview Notification PDF 2026.

The selection process for the TNPSC CTS Interview 2026 will have only two stages for the Interview posts under the Combined Technical Services:

Based on the marks obtained in the TNPSC CTS Interview Written Exam 2026 and subject to the rule of reservation of appointments, the list of eligible candidates will be announced for onscreen certificate verification.
After verification, eligible candidates will be admitted for physical certificate verification and interview based on the marks obtained in the TNPSC CTS Interview Written Exam 2026.
After this stage, the candidates will be allowed to participate in the TNPSC CTS Counselling 2026 based on his/her TNPSC CTS Interview Rank 2026.
The final selection will be made based on the total marks obtained by the candidate in Written Exam (Part B and Part C of Paper I and Paper II) and Interview taken together to rule of reservation of appointments.
Candidates will be allowed to participate in counselling (wherever applicable) based on his/her rank.
Appearance in Paper I and Paper II are compulsory. Candidates who have not appeared either for Paper I or Paper II of the TNPSC CTS Interview Written Exam 2026 will not be considered for selection, even if they secure the minimum qualifying marks.
TNPSC CTS Interview Written Exam Pattern 2026
The TNPSC CTS Interview Written Exam 2026 consists of two papers: Paper I & Paper II.
Paper I consists of three parts: Part A (Tamil Eligibility Test), Part B (General Studies / GS) and Part C (Aptitude & Mental Ability).
Paper II is the Subject Paper for posts other than Tamil Reporter and English Reporter.
The Part B: General Studies section consists of 75 questions and the Part C: Aptitude and Mental Ability section consists of 25 questions and is conducted for a total of 150 marks.
Part A of the Paper I is the Tamil Eligibility Test and will consist of 100 questions conducted for 150 marks.Paper I will have a duration of 3 hours.
Paper II will be the Subject Paper consisting of 200 questions conducted for 300 marks. Paper II will have an exam duration 3 hours.
This TNPSC CTS Interview Written Exam 2026 will be conducted for a total duration of 6 hours.
The total marks of the TNPSC CTS Interview Written Exam 2026 will be conducted for a total of 450 marks for 400 questions.

It should be noted by the candidates who have applied for the TNPSC CTS Interview 2026 that the Paper II, Part B and Part C of Paper I will only be evaluated if the candidate scores minimum qualifying marks of 40 per cent (60 marks) in Part A (Tamil Eligibility Test) of Paper I.
Questions in Part B and C of Paper I will be available in both English and Tamil languages.
Differently abled candidates may be exempted from Part A (Tamil Eligibility Test) if they provide required details in the online application and upload the Certificate of Disability in the prescribed format.
