SBI PO Selection Process 2026

The SBI Probationary Officer Recruitment 2026 is a three-staged selection process and candidates have to clear all the three stages to get shortlisted as a SBI PO in the State Bank of India branches across states and union territories in India.

Marks obtained in the SBI PO Mains (both objective and Descriptive) will be added to the marks obtained in Group Exercise and Interview. SBI PO Prelims Exam Pattern 2026

The SBI PO Prelims 2026 will be an online objective test consisting of multiple-choice questions (MCQs).

This online test will have 100 MCQ questions for a total of 100 marks. The total duration of this online test will be 60 minutes.

There will be three sections namely English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning Ability. There will be a sectional timing of 20 minutes for each section in the SBI PO Prelims 2026.

The online test will have negative marking for wrong answers. One-fourth of the marks will be deducted for each wrong answer in the SBI PO Prelims 2026.

There is no sectional cut-off in the SBI PO Prelims 2026.

SBI PO Mains Exam Pattern 2026

The SBI PO Mains 2026 will consist of an objective test for 200 marks and a descriptive test for 30 marks. The descriptive test will be administered immediately after conclusion of the objective test and candidates will have to type their descriptive test answers on the computer.

The objective test will have 170 questions for 200 marks.

There will be four sections namely Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, Data Analysis & Interpretation, General Awareness / Economy / Banking Knowledge and English Language. There will be sectional timing for each section in the SBI PO Mains 2026.

The online test will have negative marking for wrong answers. One-fourth of the marks will be deducted for each wrong answer in the SBI PO Mains 2026.

There will be sectional cut-off in the SBI PO Mains 2026.

The descriptive test will be testing the communication skills of the candidates and will consist of email writing (1 out of 2 options), Situation Analysis (1 out of 2 options), Either Reports Writing or Precis Writing (Anyone out of the 2 options). This will consist of 3 questions for a total of 30 marks. The descriptive test will be held for 30 minutes.

SBI PO Salary 2026

Candidates who join the State Bank of India as a Probationary Officer will get a starting basic pay of ₹48,480 per month along with admissible allowances as per the SBI rules applicable to SBI Junior Management Grade Scale I.Their pay scale will be in the scale of ₹48480-2000/7-62480-2340/2- 67160-2680/7-85920.

The approximate CTC at initial pay scale for an State Bank of India Probationary Officer at the Mumbai SBI Centre will be ₹21.97 lacs per annum.

In addition to theses, employees are eligible to dearness allowance, HR, CCA, medical allowance, insurance and other allowances.
