RBI Grade A Exam 2025: Eligibility Criteria

Interested and eligible applicants for the RBI Grade B Exam 2025 for the recruitment to the post of Grade B Officer in General / DEPR / DSIM cadres for 120 RBI Grade B vacancies in the Reserve Bank of India should fulfill the following eligibility criteria to apply online for the RBI Grade B Selection Process in 2025.

Candidates applying for the RBI Grade B Exam 2025 must be either a citizen of India (or) a subject of Nepal (or) a subject of Bhutan (or) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1 January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India (or) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malai, Zaire, Ethiopiaand Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

RBI Grade B Exam 2025: Age Limit

Candidates interested to apply for the 120 RBI Grade B vacancies through the RBI Grade B Exam 2025 Selection Process must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years as on the cut off date.

The cut-off date to determine the candidate’s age eligibility for the RBI Grade B Exam 2025 with respect to minimum and maximum age limit will be 1 September 2025.

Candidates must have been born not earlier than 2 September 1995 and not later than 1 September 2004.

For RBI Grade B Officer (DR) – General:

Graduation in any discipline or equivalent technical or professional qualification with minimum 60 per cent marks (50 per cent for SC/ST/PwBD applicants) (or) Post-Graduation in any discipline or equivalent technical or professional qualification with minimum 55 per cent marks (pass marks for SC/ST/PwBD applicants) in aggregate of all semesters / years.

For RBI Grade B Officer (DR) – DEPR:

Essential Qualification DEPR:

a) M.A / M.Sc in Economics or M.A / M.Sc in courses such as Quantitative Economics, Mathematical Economics, Applied Economics, Econometrics, Financial Economics, Business Economics, Agricultural Economics, Industrial Economics, Development Economics and International Economics (where "Economics" is the principal constituent* of the curriculum/ syllabus)

(or)

b) M.A / M.Sc in Finance or M.A / M.Sc in courses such as Quantitative Finance, Mathematical Finance, Quantitative Techniques, International Finance, Business Finance, Banking and Trade Finance, International and Trade Finance, Corporate Finance, Project and Infrastructure Finance, Agri Business Finance (where "Finance" is the principal constituent* of the curriculum / syllabus)

c) For a) and b) above, minimum 55 per cent marks or an equivalent grade is required in aggregate of all semesters / years from a recognised Indian or Foreign University / Institute.

Desirable Qualification for DEPR:

A Doctorate Degree in Economics or research or teaching experience in economics or publication in the field/area of Economics in standard journals.

For RBI Grade B Officer (DR) – DSIM:

Essential Qualification for DSIM:

a. A Master's Degree in Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/Mathematical Economics/Econometrics/Statistics & Informatics/Applied Statistics & Informatics with a minimum of 55 per cent marks or equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters / years;

(or)

b. Master's Degree in Mathematics with a minimum of 55 per cent marks or an equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters / years and one year post graduate diploma in Statistics or related subjects from an Institute of repute;

(or)

c. Master’s Degree in Data Science/Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning/Big Data Analytics, with a minimum of 55 per cent marks or equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters/ years from a recognised University/ Institute, an institute of national importance, UGC/ AICTE approved programme;

(or)

d. Four-year Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 60 per cent marks or equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters/ years in Data Science/ AI/ ML/ Big Data Analytics from a recognised University/ Institute, an institute of national importance, UGC/ AICTE approved programme;

(or)

e. Two years Post Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics (PGDBA) with a minimum of 55 per cent marks or equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters/years from a recognised University/ Institute, an institute of national importance, UGC/ AICTE approved programme.

Desirable Qualification for DSIM:

(i) Candidates with a Doctorate in topics related to above subjects will be given preference.
(ii) Research or teaching experience and publication in standard journals will be considered as an additional qualification.

RBI Grade B Exam 2025: Number of Attempts

Candidates belonging to the General / EWS category, who have already appeared six times for Phase I Grade B Prelims Exam are not eligible to apply.

No such restrictions applies to candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PwBD categories, if the posts are reserved for them.

RBI Grade B Officer 2025: Salary Structure / Scale of Pay

The candidates shortlisted for the post of RBI Grade B Officer in General / DEPR / DSIM cadre will be offered a pay scale in the range of ₹78450-4050(9)-114900-EB-4050(2)-123000-4650(4)-141600 (16years).

Candidates who join the Reserve Bank of India as a Grade B Officer in General / DEPR / DSIM cadre will get a starting basic pay of ₹78,450per month.

They will also be eligible for Special Allowance, Grade Allowance, Dearness Allowance, Local Compensatory Allowance, Special Grade Allowance, Learning Allowance, House Rent Allowance as per RBI rules from time to time. At present, initial RBI Grade B monthly gross emoluments (without HRA) or monthly salary will be ₹1,50,374 per month. The HRA of 15% of pay will be paid, if accommodation is not provided by the Reserve Bank of India.

Candidates selected from recruitment for the post of Officer in Grade ‘B’ (DR) – General stream will join General Cadre and candidates selected from recruitment for the post of Officer in Grade ‘B’ (DR) - DEPR/DSIM stream will join DEPR/DSIM Cadre.

Candidates recruited to the post of Grade B Officer in General, DEPR or DSIM will undergo probation of two years and may be extended up to a maximum of four years.
