Educational Qualification for TNTET Paper I Exam 2025

Candidates applying for the TNTET Paper I Exam 2025 for classes 1 to 5 should have the following educational qualification as mentioned in the TNTET Exam Official Notification PDF 2025:

Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50 per cent marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)

(or)

Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45 per cent marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known) in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002.

(or)

Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50 per cent marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.)

(or)

Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50 per cent marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Education (Special Education).

A Diploma in Teacher Education recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) only shall be considered. However, in case of Diploma in Education (Special Education), a course recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) only shall be considered (as per para 2 NCTE notification dated 23.08.2010).

Educational Qualification for TNTET Paper II Exam 2025

Candidates applying for the TNTET Paper II Exam 2025 for classes 6 to 8 should have the following educational qualification as mentioned in the TNTET Exam Official Notification PDF 2025:

These are requirements for Graduate teachers for related subjects, Tamil, English and other than Tamil and English languages.

Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)

Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.)

(or)

Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in final year of Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time in this regard

(or)

Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.)

Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year B.A/B.Sc. Ed or B.A. Ed./B.Sc. Ed

Any candidate having qualified B.Ed. programme, recognised by the NCTE is eligible to appear in TNTET.

Moreover, as per existing TET guidelines circulated vide NCTE letter dated 11 Feb 2011, a person who is pursuing any of the teacher education courses (recognized by the NCTE or the RCI, as the case may be) specified in the NCTE Notification dated 23rd August 2010 is also qualified to appear in the TNTET.

Candidates possessing B.E. with B.Ed. of any discipline is eligible to apply for TNTET Paper – II for the optional subjects Mathematics and Science only.

TNTET Paper I Exam Pattern 2025

The TNTET Paper I Exam 2025 is an OMR based exam consisting of five sections:

Child Development Pedagogy (age 6 to 11 years)

Language I (Tamil / Telugu / Malayalam / Kannada / Urdu)

Language II - English

The TNTET Paper I Exam 2025 will be conducted for 150 marks.
